I am already hating the car shopping thing. I've been looking at random car websites all through out today and quite frankly cars are F@#!ing expensive. Especially if you finance.
I've learned a few things about Finance companies that I'd like to share with you good people.
1. 95% of all legit finance companies will not finance a car if it is older than 5 years and has over 50K miles. Exceptions to this are Credit Unions, family members and shady car lots (Shady Car Lots sell you lemons for outragous rates for a "low" down payment per month and you will be locked to pay on the car FOREVER even after the car dies. You will never pay it off! so it is best to wear garlic or avoid those places all together.)
2. Cars that are "Financable" are usually over $12K. In that case you might as well buy a brand new kia or hyundai and kiss your cash goodbye over the next 5 years (they don't hold their value either!!).
3. MOST finance companies will screw you on the rate if you have a bankruptcy on your credit report.(that's me)
4. 95% of all car finance companies will not finance the car if it is less than 8000.
With all the above taken into consideration you are always looking at paying for a car around $300 a month (maybe less if you have a down payment in which I don't) And I can't afford $300 a month!!! Not with what I'm going to have to pay for insurance now!!
Tarter Sauce* was $211 a month. It was a perfect find. $9999, 28000 miles and in great condition. Do you realize how hard it is to find a GOOD LONG LASTING car for that price? It is going to be tough!!

Is it because it is a taurus? Is it because I've been wanting to give this car a nick name since I bought it back in september and never could come up with one? Ironic, isn't it? Naming your car after it is dead.]
Hopefully my car shopping fiend friend Eric will help me accomplish this!!! He is a haggling scorpio from hell and loves the power trip LOL. I can't wait to see him in action.
Knitting has been pretty crazy too. I haven't touched Tank Girl since the weekend.
I have frogged the baby girl hat for the co-worker and started over last night (issue with decreasing in the wrong places) but Oh well! It will look better the second go round!

ReplyDeletenothing like car troubles we dont talk at all in front of our truck about her failing health. and lack of recovery. LOL went looking for a newer used truck prices here begin at 19,000 and go up for used? i keep saying i paid less for my frist home years ago then they ask for any new car these days. what was that you ask? $12,000.000 for a house back in 1970 with a mortage of 120 per month. same house today goes for over 100,000.00 sold back in the 80's for $50,000. i know cause my x sold it LOL .dont ya just wish we could shop by time traveling instead :)
