Don't leave me high don't leave me dry

Don't you hate it when you get a melancholy-ish type song stuck in your head? I do. So I shall make you all suffer the radio head with me. Blah ha ha ha

I do have some good things going on.
Wedding Plans:
__X__ Dress
__X__ Someone to marry us (my Uncle)
__X__ Location (They Do the food too)
__X__ Invitations (Ordered awaiting arrival)
__X__ Photographer (http://melissagay.wordpress.com/)
All that's left on my todo list is
_____ Wedding Favors
_____ Marriage License
_____ All the bazillion forms collected for name changing (ugh!!)
_____ Maid of Honor Dresses
_____ Registering for stuff is at 50%

Ugh it's still too much to do!

Beware Knitting in Progress:
Loving Comfort Shawl - 85% completed! I'm working the edging on it now. I'm loving it! However I think after I'm finished knitting it I may attempt to redye it. I'm just not loving the colors of the yarn. I'm thinking I may use some really dark wine color to saturate it before I go through the dreaded blocking process.

Beware Crochet in Progress:
Threads of Love Baby Blanket - 85%
I ended up Crocheting during the super bowl because the pattern for that blanket is sooooo easy that I can still watch TV. Unfortunately I couldn't do that with the shawl. I really love the superbowl and I'm a big Green Bay fan so I was VERY VERY happy to see them win it for the first time since 1997, wow! That's like 13 years ago!

Brings back memories....
So I had a birthday a couple of weeks ago. My man bought me a bouquet of beautiful flowers and had them delivered to me at work on Tuesday (2 days b4 birthday). It was the first time anyone had sent me flowers at work in my whole 33 years. It was cool and the few women around here were oooing over them. I love my man!

The night of my birthday (1/27) I took the day off. Johnny took half a day. He took me to In The Making my LYS and he bought me yarn!! He suffered through 45 min with me in the store. God bless him! Sorry didn't take pics of the yarn. :-(
Then that evening we went to City Vineyard for a Blind Wine Tasting! We actually got 4 out of 6 right! I was impressed with out pallets. The ones I missed he got right and vise versa. Put us together and we are unstoppable! Love that shop! The owner rocks and the folks that frequent are really cool.
One of the wines that I loved at the tasting is this lovely chardonnay.

Alright folks! I'll get some pics of knitting and crochets this afternoon. Until then. Ta-Ta for now!

Ok so it's august...

I still can't believe how fast this summer has flown by. I'm literally overwhelmed with all the activities going on the next 2 months. First of all, I have until sometime next month to find a house to live in. I've found one, submitted an offer and now I'm playing the waiting game. I've got a good rate locked in and I'm anxious to get in. I'm also working my but off to save up enough for Sym's birthday party at the end of this month. We've decided that if I pay for her a grand party, I don't have to buy her anything. I love my kid. ;-) She knows I work hard and that to pay for everything by myself isn't easy.
Also going on this month is my grand father's birthday. My sister pam's is next month and she's gonna be 30. I'm trying to figure out what is going to be done about that party thing too.
Also I've got work going on and am about to approach the busy season for me. Both jobs. Pizza, foot ball season approaches and desk job release period.
But that doesn't mean that we don't get a chance to party. OH heck no!! I took sym to Alabama adventure yesterday. She couldn't do the water park so we just hit the coasters and the other spin you around till you throw up rides. ;-) Thank God for Buy one get one free coupons. I wanted to do something a little special for her since she starts 5th grade next week and the last thing we did this summer trip wise was our North Alabama Adventure. ;-) Love my kid. Still can't believe she is about to turn 10!! 10 Y'all!! that's like a decade! That's 10 years!! I can still remember those insignificant moments of the day she was born like they were yesterday. For instance, chowing down on corn dogs on the way to the hospital because I knew they wouldn't let me eat once I got there. The fact that she was born one minute before Days of Our Lives was supposed to come on. Yeah. 11:59 AM. Drugged on epidural and other good meds, I had told the nurses to wake me for Days when instead they said "Do you feel anything? You are having hard contractions!" Oh sorry the drugs are doing a good job. Can I have that doc's number? I'd love to feel like this again. LOL just kidding. From that day/night on, I didn't get a good night sleep until she was 4 years old. I don't think I ever will sleep like I did before I had her. Especially when she hits the teen years. I love my baby girl. She's the silliest person I know.
Our Conversation:
Me: "Come on Sym I want to take a pic of your smile."
Sym: "OK" (Crossed eyes and tongue out and ready)
Me: "Sym Seriously hun. I have way too many pics of your tongue."
Sym: "Ok mom"
(Just as the button was hit, I see a pic of sym smiling as the camera was thinking and saving it came out with her tongue out. Sighs)

Our Labor day weekend

Sym and I had fun. Friday was Sym's B-Day sleepover and let me tell ya'll. Hanging with 7 little girls for over 12 hours isn't a picnic. Especially trying to get them all to "go along" with what you have planned.
I hate feeling like my efforts are fruitless but I keep forgetting that kids in the 6-9 range tend to not give a frag about any body else's feelings at times. I forget that they are just kids. I guess because Sym is so grownie.
Adults can be the same way too. Sym's 3rd birthday was like that. It was the first one I threw at our house at the time. I was serving hamburgers and hot dogs and my family had the gall to say, "Where are the onions and mayo? Oh you didn't get those? You should have. What's a burger without mayo?" (An EXTRA amount of disgusting white oil coating is waste of damn good beef if you ask me. Your breath is far better wtihout the onion. Trust me I'm saving you. None of that was actually said but seriously ran through my 24 year old mind at the time.) So I really haven't thrown a party at my home for Sym with family since. It was my first time doing it solo without my mom helping me. I never threw those kind of parties before and to have my family.. well let's just say I've forgiven them and moved on. This year was no different. The grownups had dinner with us at China Doll. I am still avoiding actually throwing a party that involves the grownups of my family.
It is amazing that sometimes kids take on that same kind of mentality. "I messed up and don't want to finish my project!" "I don't want to draw on pillow cases. I don't like them!" "I don't want to watch Harry Potter! I want to watch Lord of the Rings" OMG! I gave them all a lesson on demo-crazy Majority rules and you just have to fraggin deal with it! ;-) That kept me sane as well as my frequent balcony visits to smoke.
All in all the sleep over was great! The kids were good overall and I want to throw it again soon! This time I think I'm going to keep it in the 9-10 year old range.
Saturday morning was fun, I made them pancakes and took Sym and a few of the girls swimming. I had great adult conversation time with the parents. I felt sane again. LOL
I worked Saturday night at the Hut. Made some good cash and then for the first time in 2 years I went to southside with an old friend I hadn't seen in a LONG time. You might remember Eric? Yeah it has been about that long since I last saw him. It was he and his friend that I'll refer to as Cherry Pie. Reason being, she was dancing to hippie music (the band Earthbound) as if she was on that music video. ;-)
We had a blast. I danced all night with a nice gent that twirled me around till I was dizzy and I didn't even spill my drink or burn anybody. ;-) Go me!

Sunday was recovery day. Sym came back home around 3 with T & K. They ended up spending the night. Monday was shop till you drop day! We shopped with Sym's birthday money. I got to buy also some things for our apartment to make it not look so blah boring. Sym bought 2 Brat Dolls, a Barbie house, a case for her DS that had decals for it too, Sims Castaway for the DS and that's about it I think. I bought 2 small rugs (1 for bath 1 for kit), a cookie sheet, a 5X8 area rug, 3 pieces of art for our living room and more multiplayer video games. Also got yarn for Sym's Sweater that I'm starting tomorrow. It is getting to be sweater time ya'll!! It is about time I gave knitting one a shot! lol I'll show ya'll yarn pron and pattern etc soon. ;-) Also Misc stuff was purchased too. Like cutesy coin purses and funky bracelets and head bands. Loverly!
We had a blast and now I leave you with a pic of my new living room.

My baby is growing up ya'll!

She just turned 9!!! 9! Her last year in the single digits! Can you believe it? I sure as hell can't! Where the hell have the past nine years gone? Was my child ever a baby? She was a baby at one point. She had to be! How else would they have gotten her out of my belly on 8/26/99? They did give me alot of drugs. Maybe they gave her a magic potion that shrank her temporarily (I was all belly prego) and then when she came out she got the instant 9 year old syrup. Those tricky doctors. Ha! She's not really nine. She is still a little baby but wait, she's ALOT taller than the 21 and 1/2 inches that they measured her when she was born.

I remember 6 very well. That's when she started her violin lessons! Ah violin lessons. yeah

I remember her being 2, vaguely.

I love my girl! She keeps me smiling when the clouds are the thickest (like this week has been in the armpit of the south.)

Happy 9th Birthday Symi-D!!!
I Love you!!!
Love Mom

Today is the Day.....

It is official! I am 30 the big 3-0 and do I feel any different? Not really.

I don't know what to write! I'm sitting at home on my 30th, Sym is at my grandmothers and I am debating on what to get into for the next 2 hours before I meet up with my mom & sisters for brunch/lunch at 2:30.
So I leave you with my pic of calorimetry.

Damn I really needed to get my eyebrows done!! LOL
XOXOXO
